Manchester United are reportedly eyeing the addition of four new signings to complete the overhaul of the squad at Old Trafford. According to the Manchester Evening News (MEN), Manchester United want four new players but that might not be possible when the winter transfer window reopens in the next two weeks. It was revealed that Premier League clubs including Manchester United are expected to have a quiet winter transfer window as they continue to feel the effects of the Coronavirus Pandemic. Manchester United might need to wait till next summer’s transfer window to sign the players that they want.
The Manchester Evening News revealed that the Red Devils are targeting the addition of an experienced right winger, a central defender, a right back and a defensive midfielder. Manchester United made a big move in January when they signed Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon for an initial fee of £47m. The Portuguese international signed for the Red Devils at the start of the year and he has been an excellent signing for the former European champions.
Manchester United have tried to sign English winger Jadon Sancho from German team Borussia Dortmund in the past and it remains to be seen whether the club will return to Dortmund to negotiate the signing of the £100m-rated right winger. The Red Devils sign young wingers Amad Diallo and FacundoPellestri in January but they are seen as the ones for the future rather than now. Manchester United are long-term admirers of Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane but they might not be able to prise him away from the Spanish champions. RB Leipzig star DayotUpamecano is a target for the Red Devils as they try to sign a centre back partner for skipper Harry Maguire. West Ham United defensive midfielder Declan Rice is also a target for Manchester United.
